Eventually, Goldstein spoke to Ford and sold him the role
When Brett Goldstein, Jason Segel, and Bill Lawrence were asked how they got Harrison Ford on the show, Segel said that Goldstein originally wanted a “Harrison Ford type” and was prepared to audition for people like Ford. Segel told Goldstein that they should at least take it to Ford first, because they thought he would immediately reject it, but at least others would hear that Harrison Ford was involved in the project, which also piqued the interest of other major actors.
I watched the first two episodes and found them fascinating
Goldstein still doesn’t understand what he did to convince her, but he was enthusiastic nonetheless. It was featured on WatchMojo’s Top 10 Best TV Shows of 2023 (So Far) (2023).
I also respect the way it’s presented – she doesn’t do things that other therapists have to do, and that’s pretty clear
Part of that is because I realized that there’s a reality-based therapist who needs therapy and wants to break through to her patients to unexpectedly break through her own problems. She doesn’t get into the silly situations of other shows like Loot, but it’s still early in the series and I’ll keep watching.
The show isn’t for everyone
That said, I enjoy the depth of the characters, who don’t feel like caricatures; they’re people I want to get to know.
